BI Developer/Reporting Analyst – K2 Insurance Services
K2 Insurance Services, LLC seeks a full-time BI Developer/Reporting Analyst with insurance-industry experience who will build and maintain reports and dashboards using SSRS, SSIS, and PowerBI. We are looking for someone that has strong Microsoft (SSRS/SSIS) reporting skills to support reporting from our SQL Data Warehouse, but also someone that can help us grow with PowerBI reporting from our newer Databricks platform.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000,USD per year
Key Responsibilities:
Report building:
Build and maintain reports and dashboards using SSRS, SSIS, and Power BI
Write complex SQL queries to pull data from SQL Server and Databricks data warehouses, source-systems, and/or staging environments
Incorporate queries into stored procedures or Databricks notebooks
Provide pre-written reports to users, schedule subscription reporting
Build and publish data models and semantic layers
Support ad-hoc data requests from our stakeholders
Business Requirement Gathering:
Work with our Business Analysts and with stakeholders to learn requirements for each project.
Collaborate with the data engineering team to understand the warehouse structure and ensure effective use of the SQL Server and Databricks platforms; help build requirements where additional warehouse data would be useful.
Document requirements, uses of reporting tools, and development actions taken in Confluence and Jira
Participate in data quality review/correction
Testing/Validation
Validate results against known, valid data/aggregates
Participate in testing with users/stakeholders
Provide light training on new toolsets provided
Qualifications
3+ years in a BI Developer, Reporting Analyst, or similar data-focused role
Proficient in SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, and SQL
Experience querying and reporting from a cloud-based data warehouse, preferably Databricks
Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and ETL concepts
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Attention to detail, especially in data validation and reconciliation
2+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Familiarity with DAX and Power Query
Familiarity working in the Azure Databricks environment
