The Board of Directors for Wolverine Power Marketing Cooperative (WPMC) seeks a Chief Executive Officer to continue the strong partnership and reputation it has with stakeholders from across the country.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal CEO will be a strategic thinker and relationship builder, an intensely creative problem solver adept at listening to customer needs and delivering custom offerings through complex power supply contracts and mathematical constructs. They will possess strong communication skills to engage effectively with senior leaders, member CEOs, decision makers, a board of directors, Wolverine Power Cooperative (WPC) staff and Michigan Electric Cooperative Association (MECA) staff. They will possess an eager desire to learn a business from the ground up while working alongside experienced leaders. They'll have an understanding and appreciation of the rural electric cooperative business model and previous leadership experience, preferably in the energy industry. And they'll exhibit a high degree of curiosity and an ability to think outside the box.
About Wolverine Power Marketing Cooperative:
WPMC is a retail electric cooperative selling power to commercial and industrial customers in Michigan's electric choice market. Our mission to provide affordable power supply to our members through flexible and creative pricing solutions, while exceeding their service expectations, is our foundation and the commitment that still drives us today. WPMC received its alternative electric supplier (AES) license from the state of Michigan in 2001 and began serving its members shortly after. WPMC presently supplies power to more than 20 members, making it a top AES in the state.
Like all electric cooperatives, WPMC is governed by a board of directors comprised of its members.
About Wolverine Power Cooperative (WPC):
Wolverine Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit generation and transmission electric cooperative headquartered in Cadillac, MI, that serves as WPMCs agent in providing power supply, management, and administrative services. The WPMC CEO will remain a WPC employee reporting to the President and CEO and is subject to WPC's terms and conditions of employment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, energy management, engineering or a related field.
Demonstrated experienced collaborating with and delivering results to a variety of stakeholders related to customer relations, operations, energy procurement, or financial management.
An above average degree of curiosity and ability to think creatively.
Strong analytic, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of FERC, NERC and state of Michigan utility regulations.
5+ years' experience in the energy sector, preferably rural electric cooperatives.
Previous experience as a senior leader working with a board of directors.
