The Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens and the performance of postmortem examinations under the medical direction of the pathologist(s) while implementing the hospital and laboratory missions, goals and objectives.
Additional Requirements:
Independent judgement and initiative required to schedule, organize, and plan work.
Responsible for care and accuracy in collection and labeling specimens.
Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress.
Knowledge of HIS and LIS, assorted laboratory instrumentation appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology.
(PA)ASCP required. Equivalent certification not acceptedCompany Description
Experience:
2+ years CVOR required (will consider 1 year with Level 1 Trauma experience)
Scrub & circulate required
Heart/lung transplant experience required
Cardiac, thoracic, vascular (open & endovascular), Whipples, and transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas)
Certs: BLS (AHA)
Licensure: Pending license accepted
