The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking an experienced, senior-level Technical Writer to support U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) in Doral, Florida. This position is contingent upon award of the USSOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES). The Senior Technical Writer will serve as the primary knowledge manager for the project.
Responsibilities:
Work with customer, developers, and systems engineers to translate scientific and technical ideas in simple language specifications
Responsible for supporting the developers and systems engineers with documentation (including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or instructions) for system components and engineering artifacts
Process Owner for all technical documentation on the project
Writes and edits technical documentation for all the project’s hardware and software to include installation, configuration, and how-to documentation
Creates code documentation for software; produces implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities; provides field, data definition, and data flow documentation and formats technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources
Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing and user documentation
Experience designing and developing developer-oriented documentation and collaborating/working directly with developer teams
Use documentation tools to develop templates and create output in various mediums
Gather requirements, facilitate meetings, and conduct documentation reviews
Translate business strategies, customer expectations, and requirements into detailed narratives, specifications, flowcharts, and process flows
Work with developers and systems engineers to test applications and processes to gather content and confirm documentation accuracy
Prepare written content and diagrams to articulate technical information for delivery to various US government and mission partners
Participate in Standards Development for documentation to support the drafting of deliverables, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lexicon or other artifacts as needed
Clearly and concisely take complex technical information and translate into written products/deliverables
Submit effective and concise communications regarding issues, risks, objectives, and initiatives
Possess and apply expertise to handle and deliver on multiple complex work assignments
Contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable
Qualifications:
Required:
US citizen with active Secret security clearance
Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of experience; or an Associate’s degree plus 7 years of experience; or major IT certification plus 7 years of experience and at least five years in a technical or lead writing role
Clearly and concisely take complex technical information and translate into written products/deliverables
Must be able to work independently with the ability to employ innovative ideas to accomplish tasks
Demonstrated excellent writing and grammar skills
Proven experience working with developers and designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation
Experience writing and editing technical reports and technical documentation using word processing systems (Word), desktop publishing (Publisher), presentation systems (PowerPoint), Adobe Systems, and spreadsheet systems (Excel)

The proposed salary range for this position is: $61,600-$129,300
