Description:

Consult and collaborate with school personnel in gathering and giving information on students and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior.

Meets with Behavior Support Teams and helps counselor/administrator to write or review behavior plans and ensures the implementation of those plans.

Assists students directly toward adjustment to school.

Involved in gathering information utilized in a Functional Behavioral Assessment to include interviews with students, interviews with parents/guardians, interviews with teachers, observation of students in different settings, observe classrooms, collect data used in an FBA from cumulative folders, behavior plans, disciplinary referrals, etc.

Conducts group social skills, character education, anger management, conflict resolution training sessions with identified students that are at-risk due to behavioral issues.

Reports to Assistant Superintendent directly but works closely with the Director of SPED and the building principals of each building.

Work closely with district social worker to coordinate behavior training opportunities for teachers and parents/guardians.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. Degree in education from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of 3 years classroom experience in a public school

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
