Position Overview:
We are seeking motivated and dedicated interns to participate in our internship program through Holyoke Public Schools Extended Learning Department. As a student intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience ideally aligned with your career of interest. A Beyond the Bell Afterschool program intern will support the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and supportive educational programming for students in grades K-5. This role offers valuable experience in educational settings, contributing to both the academic and social-emotional development of younger students.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Assistance:
Support teachers and program staff in classroom activities, including academic and enrichment sessions.
Provide one-on-one or small group academic and social-emotional support to students.
Mentoring and Leadership:
Act as a role model and mentor, encouraging positive behavior and engagement among students.
Lead or co-lead enrichment activities, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
Program Support:
Assist in preparing materials and setting up activities for daily programming.
Help ensure a safe and inclusive environment by adhering to established health and safety protocols.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing training sessions to develop skills in teaching, mentoring, and professional communication.
Reflect on experiences through regular check-ins and discussions, contributing to personal and professional growth.
Qualifications:
Holyoke High School student with an interest in education, youth development, or related fields with good academic standing.
Ability to engage positively with young children and serve as a role model.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Dependable, responsible, and committed to the internship duration.
Time Commitment:
Summer Intern duration is from 6/26/25-7/7/25
