Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Michigan Hill Washington. This position involves providing accurate and effective interpretation services to facilitate munication between individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and those who can hear.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in various settings, including educational, medical, and munity environments.

Ensure clear and accurate munication, maintaining the integrity and intent of the message.

Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines in all interpreting assignments.

Collaborate with other professionals and team members to support the needs of clients.

Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of all individuals involved.

*PRN position, K-12, Must have EIPA score of 4.0

State Certification Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following Washington State certification requirements for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters.

Educational Requirements:

pletion of an approved interpreter education program or equivalent training.

Possession of a valid certification from a recognized accrediting body, such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).

Alternatively, candidates may hold a Provisional Deaf Interpreter Credential (PDIC) from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), with the requirement to obtain full certification within a specified timeframe.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience in interpreting services, with a preference for candidates who have worked in educational or munity settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, or a related field.

Additional certifications or specialized training in areas such as legal or medical interpreting.
