The Amherst Public School District is seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time, school year, Interim Assistant Principal for the Fort River Elementary School.. Candidates who are well-versed in the teaching and learning process, are willing to support the work of the principal, and are able to articulate their ability to advance the mission of improving student outcomes within the school are encouraged to apply. This position is covered under the APAA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Bilingual/bi-cultural candidates are welcome to apply

Responsibilities:

Chair IEP and 504 meetings and oversee Special Education service delivery

To supervise and evaluate teachers.

To assist the principal in management of the school and school programs.

To lead and coordinate building-wide efforts to improve student academic outcomes.

To provide effective leadership and support to elementary school students and staff

Oversight of state mandated testing, MCAS, ACCESS.

Promote and ensure safety for the entire learning community.

Requirements:

MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License as a Principal/Assistant Principal (K-6).

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Special Education regulations.

Ability to work with students, staff, and parents in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

Demonstrated commitment to district multi-cultural goals and practices.

Work collaboratively and take independent initiative to solve problems and address issues.

Form a mutually supportive administrative team with the Principal for the benefit of the entire school community
