Job Title: Behavior Support Interventionist Exemption Status/Test: Exempt

Reports to: Principals Teacher Pay Scale (202 Days)

Dept./School: District-wide Funding Source: Title I Date Revised: 5/2025

Primary Purpose:

Works closely with building administration to promote a safe and positive school environment and to develop systems that meet all students’ needs. The Student Success Specialist will provide leadership and assistance with program development and implementation; facilitate meetings and monitor activities that provide and support interventions to students, families, and staff.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Deep understanding of student behavior, curriculum development, MTSS, and methods of assessment preferred

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Experience:

Minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience; Elementary School teaching experience is preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Work to instill high yield instructional strategies, build school culture, and implement trauma-informed practices.

Coordinate and prioritize building response to student behavior and common area routines.

Coordinate the collection and recording of data based on observable student behavior. Utilize data to drive decision-making for school wide systems and student support.

Support administration with student management.

Support the Professional Learning Community processes and teams.

Provides leadership to develop and implement systems for best practices to reduce absenteeism.

Actively participate in and lead a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees for the purpose of maintaining and creating strong behavior supports and interventions.

Collaborate with staff to establish and ensure proactive and consistent behavior management strategies.

Coach teachers and classified staff in effective practices through modeling and reflective conversations.

Demonstrate knowledge of legal and ethical rights and responsibilities.

Facilitate and support teachers in building positive relationships with parents through varied forms of communication.

Serve as a facilitator in conflict-resolution scenarios between staff, families, students, and the community.

Engage with parents and guardians to provide outreach, support, and training that reinforces positive behavior strategies at home and strengthens the school-home connection.

Provide targeted support for students requiring Tier 2 behavior interventions.

Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized Tier 2 MTTS Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to collect data, track progress, adjust strategies, and ensure effective case management for students exhibiting moderate behavioral challenges.

Follow and maintain knowledge of all district policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned. As students' needs evolve, the day-to-day essential functions may vary.

This position has daily interaction with those inside the organization. The interactions are primarily with students, families, peers, and supervisors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may supervise volunteers, student aides, and instructional assistants. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
