This opportunity is:

Location: Memphis, TN 38134

Days and hours: Monday- Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm;

rotating Saturdays

Full-time: Benefit Eligible

In this role, you will:

Workstation Log reference lab samples and assuring storage at the correct temperature Until shipment to reference lab

Assure that the correct sample has been received for the requested test(s)

Identifies problems and either resolves them or requests assistance from the team lead, MT or supervisory personnel

Understands the importance of accurate specimen identification; matches label and individual specimen identifiers every time

Properly store samples that are not utilized for referral or send-a-way testing in the appropriate storage location for easy access by other departments

Understands how to properly retrieve samples from all Apollo storage locations

Speaks with clients or their designees in a professional manner. Communication examples include test clarification, verification of specimen arrival or request for additional patient information as needed to perform requested testing

Data collection or logging of information as requested by supervisor/manager

Communicates with all AEL staff verbally in a professional and timely manner. Items that may require exchange include problematic specimens, special client requests, complaints or comments that require follow-up, interface anomalies or equipment failure.

In all communications especially when answering the phone, keep in mind you always represent the company; make sure all questions are addressed, even if this requires transfer to technical staff members or supervisors

Rotates responsibility for weekend assignments

Properly and promptly work all pending lists to assure all samples have been sent to the testing laboratory within 48 hours of log in at AEL – exceptions would be limited to samples shared with in-house testing locations, PREPAY that require client bill or patient pre-payment and PRIOR authorization holds that require insurance authorization prior to sending sample for testing.

Submit account correction forms for approval timely so that clients can be notified as soon as possible if testing is not going to be performed for whatever reason (examples include: wrong sample received, QNS, hemolysis, duplicate orders, but are not limited to these)

Timely follow up on email, phone calls, faxes, TNP portals and e-Excepts from reference labs

During the workstation log process, identify AOE’s that have not been properly answered, remove those orders from the batch until the proper answers have been obtained and entered

Prepares all manual reference lab requisitions to be scanned into electronic storage

Properly package samples for shipment to reference labs such as required for courier pick up, courier pick up for direct delivery to the airport, and FedEx shipping

Maintains temperature QC checks of the department refrigerator and freezer when assigned

Maintains cubicle work areas in an organized and clean manner each day

Maintains reference supplies as required to process orders for shipment

Communicate any testing issues from reference labs that will delay test resulting to management

Safety and packing/shipping training must remain current

Identify and properly hold all test orders that are listed as PREPAY or PRIOR until the Prior Authorization Coordinator confirms to send out or cancel testing.

Performs related duties upon request of management

All you need is:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing

Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills

Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.

Bonus points if you’ve got:

1 - 2 years of related experience in clinical laboratory, data entry, or production

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI).
