**Job Description:**
Summary:
Supports daily plant operations related to Food Safety and Quality
Control. Performs laboratory tests to assess chemical, physical, and
microbiological characteristics of ingredients and finished products for
quality assurance, process control, and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment (e.g., balances,
moisture analyzers, sieves).
- Conduct tests on raw materials and products for purity, stability,
and density.
- Record and report test results; enter data into ERP systems.
- Perform metal detection tests and allergen swabbing; evaluate
findings and release production lines.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and label verification.
- Manage product retains and ensure finished goods meet specifications
before release.
- Monitor Preventative Controls (e.g., allergen changeovers,
temperature checks, label accuracy).
- Assist with shipping/receiving inspections and documentation.
- Participate in internal/external audits and proficiency testing
programs.
- Handle customer sample requests and maintain sample logs.
- Supervise lab operations in the absence of the Lab Manager.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and computer skills (especially spreadsheets).
- Ability to interpret technical documents and perform basic to
intermediate math.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high-noise,
high-temperature environments.
- Familiarity with food safety protocols and Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMPs).
Work Environment:
- Primarily lab-based with regular exposure to the manufacturing
floor.
- Exposure to chemicals, dust, and mechanical equipment.
- Use of PPE (ear protection, safety glasses, dust masks) required.
