Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international organization that provides medical care to the people who need it most. The organization cares for people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, disasters, and social exclusion in more than 70 countries. ROLE OVERVIEW

The Development Operations intern supports the Development Operations team, including CRM Strategy, Gift Processing, and Donor Services. The intern will learn how a large humanitarian nonprofit organization manages the technology and operations related to fundraising. They will also have the opportunity to learn about MSF's operations and international medical programs in more than 70 countries around the world. This internship is well-suited for anyone considering a career in nonprofit technology or operations. The role involves database use and various kinds of data manipulation in support of these teams.

DEPARTMENT ACCOUNTABILITIES

Prospecting

Pursue strategic opportunities in coherence with MSF-USA s strategy, that create long-term value for the movement by identifying and developing new audience segments or donors for its mission.

Donor Cultivation, Engagement and Management

Build trust and loyalty with potential and existing donors. At the simplest level, update donors on activities. At a more complex level, build long-term relationships with key donors and key donor segments. Take overall responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering the donor engagement strategy. May be through channels or through personal relationships.

Fundraising

Secure reliable, sustainable and efficient resources in alignment with MSF-USA commitments.

Brand Positioning

Drive awareness and consideration through brand positioning based on the brand strategy and implement brand plans.

Best-in-Class Fundraising Systems and Capabilities

Deploy and champion the latest technological systems and capabilities that push the boundaries of what Development can produce for its donors.

ROLES SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

Data Management

Manage aspects of the data management system with supervision. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.

Project Management

Deliver small-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.

Administration

Conduct data entry into company systems, and review and verify the information to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

Information and Business Advice

Respond to queries from internal or external donors or suppliers by providing information, referring more complex issues to others.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data

Enter relevant information into the CRM system after each contact to ensure that the organization has quality data to enable effective customer retention and business development activities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint

• Experience with CRM database management (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Genuine commitment to MSF’s principles and work

• Interest or experience in Salesforce administration or software development

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This role has no travel requirements.

COMPENSATION

$17/hour
