QUALITY TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY OF POSITION: To ensure through analytical and organoleptic testing of all finished products and
physical audits, that product specifications are met to produce a wholesome and desirable product which conforms to customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads and accurately interprets daily production samples
Prepares customer and lab samples. Retained sample analysis of previous day’s production
Conducts daily product in house cutting and cook off evaluation
Calibrates and operates all testing equipment
Conducts salt, moisture, spice analysis, inspects and analyzes incoming raw materials, in process blends and finish product produced
Sends monthly target sample to customer as requested
Verifies all packaging attributes
Conducts pre-operational swabbing for all equipment
Maintains all QA files and retains samples
Relieve production employees as needed
Must always keep work area clean and work in a safe and accident-free manner
Adheres to company policies, procedures, GMP/SOP’s, Code of Safe Practices, and Lockout/Tagout/ Blockout Procedures.
Maintains a quality-oriented attitude in the workplace
Works effectively with workers in a constructive and positive manner
Listens to and objectively considers ideas, and suggestions from others
Qualification and Experience:
Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Be able to communicate effectively with Q.A. Manager.
Help the Q.A. Manager in sampling of special cases for proper determination of defect and the disposition.
1 year experience in QA and laboratory environment preferable.
Must be able to complete QA paperwork accurately.
Work in an industrial environment, and handle nontoxic food products.
Excellent written, laboratory, and communication skills required
Able to use scientific calculator.
Able to wear all required safety equipment.
Ability to work on a regular and reliable basis and work overtime as weekends as needed.
Assist QA Manager where necessary in research and development.
Must be computer proficient i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and willing to learn ERP & QAD.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT (required to perform essential duties and responsibilities):
Must be safety conscious and possess the understanding of safety rules and be aware of safe and unsafe conditions.
Knowledge of laboratory test equipment.
Ability to make decisions concerning work problems not covered by specific procedures, rules, and precedents.
Ability to interface with Production employees.
Must be able to bend, lift, stoop and move in a safe and alert manner.
Must be capable of standing/walking 100%
Must be able to lift 25 pounds on occasion
