Job Description
The Controls Technician reports to the Head of Automation. Responsibilities include special projects, controls troubleshooting and electrical maintenance duties when not engaged with other tasks. This position works closely with various departments to ensure the electrical and mechanical infrastructure of the plant is maintained and optimized properly to ensure efficient processing and maximum uptime.
PLC maintenance and Troubleshooting of the systems within our facility
Troubleshoot programs to identify problems and make corrections
Create and read logic flow diagrams for program design and programming
Provide technical support in developing and improving processes
Configure, install and repair automation/control devices
Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair and/or replacement of electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
Maintenance and repair of electrical systems across the organization
Troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/production/quality issues
Reading and understanding mechanical plans and wiring diagrams
Work according to project timelines and required processes
Assist activities of outside contractors working on assigned line(s)
Work independently (under limited supervision)
Review controls documentation and installation plans
Advises Electrical Department leadership of electrical/mechanical problems and suggests solutions.
Complete special projects as directed
Participate in training and development opportunities to increase knowledge of relevant systems
Follow safety and work procedures

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Profess. Background / Education
Completed degree or certificate program in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and work experience required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with industrial electrical systems
PLC Education/Experience servicing programmable logic systems with Siemens experience preferred.
Required Skills / Knowledge
Hands-on work attitude, precise and detail-oriented workstyle; highly organized with good communication skills
Strong communication skills, both verbally and written. Able to interact at any level of the organization effectively.
At all times, behave honestly and ethically in all matters.
Must be a team player
Must be highly computer literate for the maintaining of machine control systems software and upgrades.
Proficiency with automation hardware and software
Knowledge of motion control systems
Other Requirements
Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that includes night shift rotations
