Job Description
The Counselor at Twin County Recovery Services (TCRS) works as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing clinical treatment services to those persons referred for an evaluation and/or treatment. All Counselors are expected to adhere to all Federal and State guidelines pertaining to confidentiality. They are also expected to model healthy behavior to those persons with whom they work.
The following is a list of job duties included in the Counselor's position:
· Perform clinical evaluations as assigned
· Maintain a caseload as assigned
· Facilitate group and individual counseling
· Provide education regarding chemical dependency to their patients
· Provide appropriate referrals and supports to patients
· Maintain accurate and timely records according to regulations
· Provide a safe and respectful environment for patients and fellow workers
· Assist patients in developing treatment plans and discharge plans
· Maintain a professional relationship with referral sources
· Abide by the CASAC and Agency Code of Ethics
· Conduct urine drug screenings as appropriate
The Counselor position will be supervised by the Clinical Program Director or their designee. Regular supervision is to be part of the expectation of the Counselor and should the assigned amount of time not be adequate, they can request additional time.
Education Requirements: Associate Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or other related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree. At least four (4) years work experience in an OASAS licensed facility.
License Requirements: CASAC-T/P, CASAC, LMHC, LMSW or other Q.H.P.
Experience Requirements: A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a counselor in a preferably in an OASAS licensed outpatient chemical dependency treatment program.
