Job Description
Position Summary:
The Pipefitter/Fuser performs the skilled journey-level pipefitter/fuser work required to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain new and existing underground gas distribution piping systems and is accountable to safety, quality and productivity standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Construct, install, maintain piping systems, appurtenances, and equipment for gas
Maintain knowledge of system operation and study of working drawings and gas standards manuals
Perform all work safely and always follows company and customer policies and procedures.
Interprets safety data sheets (SDSs) and identifies chemicals using the Hazardous Material Identification.
Ensure Preventive Maintenance and Inspection Program of equipment is being performed and recorded
Read and follow fusion procedures, product manufacturer instructions, and customer construction standards
Join piping by means of fusion, electrofusion, or mechanical coupled joints
Use calibrated inspection tools
Verify specifications by performing and recording QA tests & measurements on a wide variety of equipment
Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications
Using a hand shovel, dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage
Load and unload equipment and materials
Performing regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
Paperwork filing and maintenance as needed
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Essential Education and Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Must obtain a current DOT Health Card
Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and feeling, crouching, and crawling and lifting to 50 lbs.
Join and maintain union membership
Successful completion of OQ training
Maintain technical license
Preferred Skills:
Class A Driver’s License (CDL)
OSHA 10
SWPPP certificate
Pay Scale- Union Scale rate: $31.69/hr
