Summary: The PCB Design Engineer is responsible for supporting Hardware Engineers in the development of schematics and PCB layouts utilizing established processes and procedures. They ensure the timely completion of PCB layouts and ensure that the finished design meets EMC (Electromagnetic Compliance), DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee global PCB design group
Ensure the timely completion of PCB designs
Assist Hardware Engineers with schematic creation
Maintain component symbol and cell libraries in Altium and Mentor Graphics
Interface with Mechanical Engineers to develop packaging
Conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews at various milestones in the design cycle to ensure a robust final product
Troubleshoot and assist users with tool implementation and problems
Create documentation for the fabrication of PCBs
Create manufacturing documentation for the assembly of PCBAs
Interface with manufacturing to resolve any assembly issues that may occur
Work with PCB suppliers to optimize manufacturing arrays
Drive improvements to processes and procedures
Provide job mentoring to other PCB layout engineers
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering
Solid understanding of Altium Enterprise and Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise software
Solid understanding of EMC design practices, DFM and DFT
Minimum 7 years automotive electronics experience
