Are you an experienced construction project accountant with a passion for precision and a knack for overseeing complex projects? We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to take charge of project accounting responsibilities to ensure the financial success of our projects. You’ll have hands-on involvement as part of a collaborative project management team.

Since 1985, Cadence McShane Construction Company has been a trusted name in the industry. Based in Plano, TX, with regional offices in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, the company delivers comprehensive general construction, design/build, and construction management services.

Responsibilities

Independently manage all aspects of project accounting for assigned projects.

Create AIA owner billings by thoroughly understanding contract billing requirements.

Monitor job cost control by reviewing reports, adjusting entries, and maintaining financial accuracy.

Handle accounts payable by entering and coding invoices aligned with project budgets.

Oversee subcontract management, including payment application reviews, approvals, and compliance tracking.

Collaborate with project teams to set up budgets, track costs, and manage change items.

Identify and report billing, payment, or profit challenges to the VP of Finance.

Participate in monthly status meetings to review forecasts and contracts

Assist project team with audits and project closeouts.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in construction project or cost accounting.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Familiarity with tools like Textura, GC Pay, or Procore Pay preferred.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative mindset.

Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to multi-task and meet deadlines.

A proactive, positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in your work.

Key Information:

Full-time, in-person role

Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
