Job Description:

The Intervention Specialist at St. Brigid of Kildare, a Catholic school, is responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs through academic and behavior interventions and individualized instruction. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Catholic education, promotes the dignity of every learner, and collaborates with faculty, parents, and support staff to ensure student success. The Intervention Specialist will work closely with the classroom teachers and educational support aides to ensure that student needs are met, goals are taught, and provisions are followed.

The specific responsibilities of the intervention specialist are:

Provide direct small-group or one-on-one instruction when needed.

Allow time with each student based on specifically defined services and learning goals.

Make recommendations to teachers on ways to best meet the needs of students.

Write Accommodation Plans and IEPs, and review plans with the classroom teachers. Implement plans with fidelity.

Participate in meetings such as IEPs, Student Support Team (SPT), and parent conferences.

Conduct assessments and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.

Ensure that all dates comply with plans and ETRs.

Collaborate with the teaching team and the Student Support Team.

Maintain special education files and complete progress reports.

Coordinate with parents, teachers, school counselors, and external service providers.

Work with families to communicate regularly any necessary information.

Participate in professional growth activities relative to the school’s accreditation plan and mission.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Uphold and promote the Catholic identity and mission of the school through word and example.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Intervention, or related field.

Valid state teaching license with appropriate endorsement (Intervention Specialist/Special Education).

Experience in classroom instruction and/or student support services preferred.

Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI), IEP processes, and differentiated instruction.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks

Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training

Practicing Catholic preferred; must support the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
