Avon Protection Ceradyne, a subsidiary of Avon Protection, is looking to hire a Lab Technician who will take direction from senior engineers and managers in the laboratory and pilot manufacturing areas and lead prototyping activities on the production floor. They will be able to communicate necessities to other technicians, and will operate manufacturing equipment for pilot production, perform routine laboratory experiments, create test samples and products, and collect test data. We are looking for a candidate that has a strong work ethic and ability to pivot multiple projects and tasks in a high energy environment.

Essential duties and/or Functions: (Essential Functions/basic job duties that must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation)

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in product documentation by recording laminate and process information during the product development and prototyping.

• Send testing samples to outside laboratories as required.

• Support in quality control of parts.

• Perform routine calculations using given formulas via a calculator and or computer applications (MS Excel spreadsheets or similar);

• Maintain accurate records of all testing performed as well as test samples when required

• Report maintenance needs to appropriate parties for prototyping and production equipment and tooling.

• Regularly establish laboratory consumables needs and relate them to operation and/or purchasing, so lab work is not delayed due to consumables

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed to assist overall product development goals.

• Operate all production and prototyping equipment as necessary.

• Maintain a clean and safe environment, perform regular housekeeping duties.

• Responsible for compliance with all company and departmental safety policies.

• Perform supervised, controlled experiments to improve procedures, document changes and revise procedures.

• Assists in creating and maintaining an organized workspace for prototyping activities

• Attends daily R&D meeting to go over projects and progress, and leads daily activities on the floor

• Communicates with production leads and supervisors as needed to coordinate machine and material usage

• Trains other technicians on R&D, equipment, and operational processes, and assists in training production operators as needed/requested by manufacturing during project handoff

• Communicates issues to supervisor in a timely fashion

Required Minimum Qualifications: (Minimum/Basic level of qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the position, i.e. education,

licensure or any measurable and job-related experience)

Basic Qualifications:

• Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

• Competent at intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Fluently read, write legibly, understand and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences: (Characteristics/Skills/Experiences that are not required but are preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to safely and accurately operate various PLC controlled production equipment.

• Ability to read and write and interpret technical reports and instructions.

• Ability to file and maintain accurate records.

• Requires mechanical dexterity and attention to detail.

The anticipated hourly range for candidates who will work in Salem, NH is $26 - $29 hourly. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
