Position Summary
The Upward Bound Project Coordinator will report to the Project Director and will manage the daily operations of the project as it relates directly to project participants.
Continued employment is contingent upon funding. This position is not eligible for non-probationary status.
Salary: Appropriate placement on Bevill State's Salary Schedule: C3, Grade: 05 $42,580 - $67,661.
Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist the Project Director in selecting program participants, assessing their individual needs, and prescribing individualized services.
2. Provide academic, career, personal, and financial aid counseling for project participants.
3. Obtain all pertinent proof of eligibility documentation for participants.
4. Assist in collecting and maintaining all prescribed records for project participants and any other records as may be necessary to achieve the objectives of the project.
5. Monitor progress of project participants as they work toward the achievement of their individual goals.
6. Plan and organize monthly seminars, field trips, banquets, etc.
7. Create flyers and newsletters to notify participants of upcoming events.
8. Manage and maintain all project social media.
9. Conduct Summer Component activities.
10. Organize and make work-study mentoring assignments.
11. Conduct Summer Bridge activities.
12. Coordinate Upward Bound tutoring services.
13. Serve as liaison between Project Director and On-Site Coordinators/Tutors.
14. Coordinate, with On-Site coordinators, extra tutoring sessions for participants with grade deficiencies.
15. Monitor On-Site Coordinators/Tutors providing advice when needed.
16. Assist in conducting training workshops for On-Site Coordinators/Tutors.
17. Tracking graduated Upward Bound participants.
18. Perform other program-essential tasks as may be prescribed by the Project Director, Associate Dean of Planning, Research, and Student Success, and the College President.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the area of education, counseling, or a field directly related to academic, career, or personal counseling is required.
2. A minimum of three years experience in working with rural, disadvantaged, or academically challenged students is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target population.
3. Knowledge directly related to Upward Bound objectives.
4. Experience related to the specified duties of the Upward Bound Coordinator.

6. Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to prescribed routines.
7. A keen attention to detail.
8. Skill in operating a mouse to control a computer.
9. Skill in operating a computer.
10. Skill in utilizing a phone system.
11. Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
12. Ability to make decisions based on correspondence, data or other information.
13. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information.
14. Ability to work with minimal supervision/work independently.
15. Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times.
