Role Overview
The Material Handler will perform all functions related to receipt of goods, put-away into warehouse, replenishment of pick areas, manual order processing, order auditing, shipment preparation, pallet building, truck loading and cycle counting inventory. Responsible for transporting goods from one place to another using heavy or tractor-trailer trucks. Load / unload cargo and assist in warehouse operations as needed. All functions may require use of powered industrial trucks, SAP or RF as needed. It’s a floater position between different locations.
Areas of Responsibility
Receives product from domestic and overseas vendors, transfers, customer returns, refused shipments, and non-inventory support products.
Accurately audits and verifies all incoming quantities for entry into computerized inventory.
Performs on and off-site warehousing duties to include: the initial movement of materials to appropriate locations, effective space utilization, and material retrieval delivery, using powered industrial equipment as needed.
Performs order fulfillment duties to include reviewing and prioritizing available orders, determining stock requirements and maintaining levels of required inventory, physically picking and packing orders, auditing and verifying picked orders, preparing completed orders for shipping, using SAP and RF as needed.
Performs shipping duties to include: Locating pallets to the dock, performing dock audits, verifying driver information, loading shipments on to trucks, properly filling out and signing BOL, tracking shipments, using SAP and RF as needed.
Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers.
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
Report defects, accidents, or violations.
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules. Collect and verify delivery instructions.
Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Responsible for maintaining and storing equipment, keys, refueling the truck, gas, expenses and to notify management of any breakdowns or maintenance issues.
Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently followed.

All drivers must be familiar with and perform a daily pre trip and post trip inspection on their truck.
Performs shipping duties to include: Locating pallets to the dock, performing dock audits, verifying driver information, loading shipments on to trucks, properly filling out and signing BOL, packaging slips and verifying documents are matched, tracking shipments, using SAP and RF as needed.
Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently followed, comply with all DOT regulations.
Ensures full compliance with Company policies, procedures, GMP’s, Ethical Business Practice, and SOPs at all times. Ensures documentation such as operation logs, batch records, etc. are fully completed, signed and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain proper gowning and hygiene to ensure integrity of the product as per company policies.
Works extended hours and occasional weekend overtime.

Requirements
Education & Qualification:
High school graduate or GED equivalent
2+ years in distribution/warehousing
Proven work experience as a truck driver. Minimum 2+ years’ commercial driving experience or driving a box truck
Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
Certifications, Licenses, Credentials:
Valid truck driving license and no recent moving or driving violations
Must pass forklift certification process (both written and driving tests)
Skills & Ability
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
Able to follow written instructions precisely and perform basic math calculations as required.
Understands and is knowledgeable of cGMP, OSHA standards etc.
Mechanically inclined to understand inner workings of equipment.
Demonstrates the ability to read and write basic English in order to be able to understand the industry regulated instruction sheets.
Prior forklift driving experience- sit down and stand up
Physical Requirements (lifting, etc.):
Must have ability to lift heavy items up to 70 pounds. Must be able to load and unload heavy objects in and out of vehicle, requiring upper body strength and physical stamina.
Uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, lifting to waist height and/or above shoulder height, frequent bending from the waist, or squatting, walking short distances.
Work Environment (Office, Warehouse, temperature extremes, etc.):
Work is regularly performed in a truck cab with exposure to hot and cold weather and driving conditions influenced by rain and snow. Employees are exposed to environmental odors, noise, and fumes, etc.
