The General Maintenance Tech I is an entry-level position that offers opportunities for growth and advancement.

This position works under the supervision of the Lead Technician and Facility Manager, contributing to a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple areas, including carpentry, painting, moves/setups, and locksmithing.

The role will involve hands-on work such as interior and exterior painting, carpentry, basic plumbing, and lock repairs.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and also thrive in a team-oriented environment.

Pay: $21 per hour (annualized to $41,600). Total Compensation: Ranges from $56,847 to $69,766, depending on the medical and dental plans selected.

Responsibilities * Perform a variety of building maintenance functions, including regular maintenance tasks and completing basic work orders.

* Carry out basic plumbing, painting, and carpentry work as needed.

* Assist with the setup and breakdown of events and activities.

* Maintain tools, equipment, the shop, and vehicles in good working condition.

* Participate in snow removal activities, including shoveling, snow blowing, and plowing.

* Complete initial and annual regulatory compliance and safety training as assigned, and ensure compliance with occupational safety and health standards, rules, and regulations.

* Report any hazards, unsafe work practices, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.

* Take on on-call phone responsibilities after training and qualifications are met.

* Primarily a Monday through Friday 1st shift job, but the ability to work evenings, weekends for winter storms, and an on-call rotation.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications * High school education, with 3 to 5 years of relevant technical training/experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

* Broad knowledge in carpentry, maintenance and repair, painting, locksmithing, and general plumbing.

* Proficiency with basic computer functions, including email and Windows applications.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

* Knowledge of door and window functions and mechanics.

* Ability to interact effectively with university staff, students, faculty, and the broader community.

* Strong organizational skills for managing both clerical tasks and tool/inventory maintenance in the shop.

* Able to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues.

* Familiarity with operating woodshop tools safely and efficiently.

* Solid general knowledge of building construction and repair.

* Ability to perform physical tasks required for the role, including lifting, bending, and working in various conditions.
