Our client, a leader in power distribution equipment, is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to develop instruction manuals for a range of physical products. This role will focus on building a documentation process from the ground up while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

This is a long-term contract opportunity with remote flexibility. The ideal candidate will have strong technical acumen, experience creating manuals for physical or electrical products, and the ability to work cross-functionally with product and engineering stakeholders.

Job Title: Senior Technical Writer – Instruction Manuals

Location: Remote

Schedule: 30–40 hours/week

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Long-term ongoing contract

Pay: Up to $40-45/hr

Key Responsibilities:

Develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly instruction manuals and technical documents for physical power distribution equipment.

Create documentation for new, existing, and legacy products across both original and acquired product lines, ensuring content meets the needs of technical and non-technical users.

Build and document a scalable process for creating and maintaining product manuals.

Establish documentation standards and templates to ensure consistency across all materials.

Collaborate closely with Offer Managers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and clarify technical concepts.

Conduct product research or hands-on testing to validate accuracy and usability of documentation.

Maintain version control and update logs for all manuals and supporting content.

Audit product lines to identify missing or outdated documentation.

Contribute to related materials such as quick-start guides, data sheets, and internal SOPs for B2B, B2C, and DTC audiences.

Qualifications:

Proven experience writing technical documentation for complex hardware or electrical systems.

Strong communication and research skills with the ability to ask targeted questions to technical teams.

Highly organized with a process-driven mindset.

Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus.

No specific industry required—technical aptitude and product understanding are key.
