Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to support the reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of payroll-related general ledger activity. This role acts as a key link between the Payroll and Accounting departments, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.Key Responsibilities:
Review, reconcile, and analyze payroll journal entries posted to the general ledger.
Ensure accurate mapping of payroll transactions (wages, taxes, benefits, and deductions) to appropriate GL accounts.
Collaborate with Payroll and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies between payroll data and financial records.
Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll accruals, adjustments, and corrections.
Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts, including payroll liabilities and clearing accounts.
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by ensuring payroll entries are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
Provide variance analysis on payroll costs and investigate fluctuations or anomalies.
Support internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to inquiries related to payroll entries and reconciliations.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards.
Identify and implement process improvements for payroll accounting workflows and reporting accuracy.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliation, or financial analysis.
Strong understanding of payroll processes, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite).
High attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with in-house payroll systems and integration with accounting platforms.
Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax reporting and compliance.
Experience supporting audits or working in a SOX-compliant environment.
Pay Details: $24.00 to $26.00 per hour
