We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant to support our project through a long-term contract opportunity.

Position Overview

The selected consultant will manage and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments within a complex IT infrastructure. This role emphasizes system stability, security, automation, and performance in support of mission-critical applications and services.

Mandatory Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related IT field. (Note: Degrees such as Agricultural Economics or MBA are not considered related.)

Certification:

Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

(Certification must be issued by Red Hat and can be current or previously issued but in valid status with certification ID.)

10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator

10+ years of experience with Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems

15+ years of overall experience in Information Technology (IT)

Core Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across dev, test, and production environments

Apply system upgrades, patching, and security hardening in compliance with industry best practices

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot OS-level issues to ensure high availability

Automate tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python

Manage Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and related ecosystem tools

Collaborate with security teams to maintain compliance and reduce vulnerability exposure

Administer storage, backup, and disaster recovery systems

Provide support to application teams for Linux-based deployments

Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, troubleshooting, and procedures

Participate in on-call rotation and incident response as required

Configure Network File Servers (NFS), mount points, and scheduled cron jobs

Experience with the Following Technologies Preferred

Oracle WebLogic, Oracle DB, Apache, PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI

Progress 4GL, OpenEdge, CVS (Concurrent Version System)

vSphere-hosted RHEL, Rubrik backup systems, Red Hat performance tuning

Load balancing, partitioning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery

Working in 24/7 uptime environments and high-availability infrastructure

Supporting application development and electronic imaging systems

Interfacing with Red Hat Support

Soft Skills & Abilities

Strong communication and leadership skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

Experience providing end-user and helpdesk support

Effective troubleshooting at OS, DB, and application levels

Experience in backup/recovery methodologies and networking fundamentals

Work Schedule and Expectations

Normal Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM EST

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Hybrid Work Setup:

3 days onsite at: 189 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD

2 days remote from within the United States (Remote work outside the U.S. is not permitted)

Must report onsite within 24 hours if required

A 2–4 week onboarding/training period will be provided
