Wastewater Operator

Description

General:

The wastewater operator operates, monitors, and troubleshoots the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. The position reports to the maintenance supervisor with a primary work schedule of Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work early or late shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment and systems according to standard operating procedures

Monitor wastewater levels, flow rates, and quality, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance with regulations

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems

Collect samples and perform tests to analyze wastewater quality and ensure compliance with environmental standards

Complete required documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner

Assist with the development of maintenance plans and participate in process improvement initiatives

Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment

Provide training and guidance to other wastewater operators as needed

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Previous experience in wastewater treatment operations preferred

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment

Understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements

Ability to analyze and interpret data

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical ability to perform the required tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions
