JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for answering and managing all incoming phone calls to the main Hospital phone number. Also, responsible for managing internal Hospital communications of interdepartmental phone calls, pagers and the intercom system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrates the ability to answer and manage all incoming phone calls to the main Hospital phone number.

Demonstrates the ability to manage internal Hospital communications of interdepartmental phone calls, pagers, and intercom system.

Demonstrates the ability to appropriately respond and follows Emergency code protocol per emergency response plan.

Demonstrates the ability to accurately contact on call providers per departmental protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associate can deliver required care/service appropriate to patients/customers.

Responsible for answering all incoming and in-house calls to the Hospital switchboard.

Displays and maintains behavior which promotes good guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians and Hospital associates.

Successfully completes annual Competency Validation.

Responds and follows established Hospital Procedures when initiating all “Codes”.

Utilizes available resources to communicate with Hospital associates and Physicians.

Maintains an updated and accurate On-Call list.

Performs assigned duties during normal scheduled time.

Maintains the cash box and handles payments per Hospital and departmental policy.

Is knowledgeable and utilizes the Hospital information system per Hospital policy/procedure.

Maintains appropriate logs as required by Hospital policy and procedure.

Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

Possess a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty, and confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school education or equivalent with courses in typing and general office skills.

Past work experience answering a multi-line telephone system.

Experience in computer operations.

Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm.

Successful experience in working with general public.

Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
