Under the supervision and direction of Pharmacy Director, Manager, Supervisor and/or Pharmacist, fills routine orders for unit doses and repackaged pharmaceuticals and performs inventory control and other related duties.

This opportunity is for full time, rotating days and eves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares solid and liquid medications for dispensing accurately and efficiently.

Maintains a working knowledge of the dispensing system to facilitate the solution of problems.

Processes refills as needed for individual patients efficiently.

Labels all orders accurately including any auxiliary labels as needed.

Performs miscellaneous typing and filing.

Aquires age appropriate knowledge and skills in relationship to new drugs and procedures necessary for the job assignments.

Delivers medications and supplies safely and accurately to the nursing unit.

Exchanges unit dose cassettes in a timely manner.

Refills floor stock accurately and efficiently.

Picks up discontinued and unused medications and processes them for credit in a timely manner.

Fills premixed intravenous medications and solutions.

Has a basic understanding of aseptic technique and demonstrates USP 797 competency via annual exam.

Aseptically prepares intravenous solutions as ordered.

Prepares TPN’s aseptically.

Education and Experience

High School degree or equivalent

Prefer 1+ years of Acute Care exp.

Must have IL Pharmacy Tech License
