Security & Valet Assistant Manager

Overview

The Jefferson Hotel is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security & Valet Manager to join our leadership team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and direction of both the Security and Valet Departments, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our guests, employees, and property. The ideal candidate will be committed to upholding the highest standards of service and security and must be able to work any shift (7:30am – 11:30pm), any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.Key Requirements

Availability: Must be able to work any day, including weekends and holidays, any shift between 7:30am – 11:30pm, and be on-call 24 hours a day.

Licensing: Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record (0+ points).

Experience: Proven experience in security and/or valet operations, preferably in a luxury hospitality environment.

Leadership: Strong supervisory, training, and team-building skills.Basic Functions & Scope

Assist in the management and daily operation of the Security Department under the guidance of the Director of Security.

Oversee all aspects of the Valet Department, ensuring five diamond service standards.

Develop and implement departmental objectives for both Security and Valet operations.

Maintain the safety and security of hotel guests, employees, vehicles, and facilities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesSecurity Operations

Enforce all Jefferson Hotel policies and procedures within your scope of authority.

Hire, evaluate, discipline, and terminate Security and Valet staff as necessary.

Prepare and manage work schedules for effective staffing within budgetary guidelines.

Develop and conduct departmental training programs, focusing on staff development, morale, and retention.

Lead monthly staff meetings and training seminars.

Respond to hotel emergencies and follow established emergency procedures (fire, medical, bomb threat, power outage, robbery, civil unrest, elevator emergency, severe weather, etc.).

Track and document all necessary training for Security and Valet staff.

Conduct and document safety checks; address guest emergencies and employee accidents promptly.

Ensure all security incidents are reported, logged, and followed up with comprehensive incident reports.

Oversee hourly security tours and building walk-throughs; ensure proper locking of doors and monitoring of security equipment.

Administer lost and found procedures and key control policies.

Assist with investigations of theft, fraud, or other incidents, maintaining strict confidentiality.Valet Operations

Manage and oversee Valet Parking staff, schedules, and service standards.

Monitor and resolve all guest complaints and incidents related to Valet operations.

Ensure accurate and timely Valet incident reports; communicate with guests and coordinate with the Director of Finance for insurance claims as needed.

Liaise with vendors and handle all Valet equipment maintenance issues.

Ensure all staff are legally authorized and trained to operate guest vehicles safely.

Prepare daily payroll, address and correct paycheck errors promptly.

Complete necessary accounting or billing reports related to Valet operations.Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in security and/or valet management, preferably in a luxury hotel environment.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and security management systems.
