Cybersecurity Support Technician

Position Description:

This role supports company personnel through both cybersecurity operations and general IT infrastructure tasks. It is ideal for someone with a strong interest in security who also values dependable user support and system maintenance.

As a Cybersecurity Support Technician, you will assist in monitoring security alerts, supporting identity and access management, and maintaining endpoint protection tools. You’ll also help ensure systems are properly patched and secure, while providing frontline support for deployments, user onboarding, and helpdesk requests.

This position offers hands-on experience in IT operations and foundational cybersecurity practices, including compliance support, identity management, and system monitoring. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow in cybersecurity while contributing to broader IT operations in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:

Monitor and triage systems and security alerts to identify threats, vulnerabilities, or policy violations.

Assist in initial incident response efforts, including log collection and investigation support.

Manage user accounts across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and MFA systems.

Perform vulnerability scans and coordinate patching of systems and applications.

Document security incidents, system changes, and compliance-related activities.

Assist with internal audit preparation and recurring compliance checks.

Collaborate with IT team members to maintain secure and reliable systems, escalating issues as needed.

Maintain and monitor endpoint protection tools (antivirus, EDR, firewall).

Support user onboarding, software installations, and IT deployments.

Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.

Perform additional duties and project-based work as assigned.Qualifications:

3-5 years of IT support, security operations experience, or completion of relevant training/certification programs.

Understanding of cybersecurity concepts (CIA triad, MFA, phishing, malware, encryption).

Experience supporting users in a Windows and Microsoft 365 environment.

Familiarity with Active Directory, basic networking, and endpoint protection platforms.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially in documentation.

Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to assist users and collaborate effectively.

Experience using ticketing systems and structured troubleshooting methods.

Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified in Cybersecurity, CEH, or CySA+ are a plus.

Exposure to XDR, SIEM, or other monitoring tools is advantageous.

The position is based in Long Island, but traveling to locations around the NY Metro area for preventative maintenance and support may be required.

Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM.
