Process Engineer – Rubber
Facility: Trenton, NJ
Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, scrap, variability, and develop best practices within the production processes. This includes improving the sustainability of our processes and operations. Also responsible for new process development including process design, operation, and implementation.
Specific Duties
Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process.
Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
Oversee that process documentation, including work instructions and acceptance criteria, is created and up to date.
Evaluate and analyze current rubber extrusion, building, and molding process metrics and performance to identify areas requiring improvement
Responsible for defining and keeping all process controls of our rubber extrusion, building, and molding documented and up to date
Review and approve process modifications, new equipment investments, new die and molds
Lead problem solving activities, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans.
Implement lean manufacturing techniques – SMED, single piece flow, 5S.
Ensure projects are completed on time.
Work with in-house product design teams to optimize the design for manufacturability.
Work with equipment designers and vendors, in-house engineering, and manufacturing staff to develop a cost-effective and working production process.
Collect, record, and transcribe data.
Show results in reports.

Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in rubber and or plastics molding operation
Proven work experience in process engineering and/or manufacturing engineering.
Excellent technical skills.
Experience in manufacturing is required.
Working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
Be able to think analytically and have interpersonal skills.
BS degree in Engineering preferred, but not required.
Must be able to work in an un-airconditioned environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for driving and ability to adjust focus.
