Job Description
Our client, a major waste removal company, is seeking reliable, safety-conscious Waste to join our Residential Waste Collection team. The Helper partners with the Route Driver and assists with the collection of waste and recyclable materials. This is a physically demanding, outdoor job ideal for candidates with a strong work ethic and a team-oriented mindset.
Shift: 1st Shift Start Time: 5:15 AM – Until Finished Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri (Saturdays required after holidays)
Pay Rate: $17/hour
Show-Up Pay: $2/hour (if sent home and showed up in correct PPE)
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
Assist the driver in collecting residential waste and recyclables.
Manually or mechanically load and empty containers (curbside, dockside, or carryout).
Operate hoisting devices to empty bins into the truck hopper.
Assist driver during backing maneuvers to ensure safety.
Report unsafe conditions, accidents, property damage, or blocked access to Route Manager or Dispatch.
Attend all required training, safety meetings, and briefings.
Communicate any customer concerns or service interruptions to the appropriate personnel.
Perform other duties as directed to meet operational needs.
Requirements
Must be dependable and punctual.
Must have steel-toed boots – required for the position.
Must bring food and water daily due to long shifts and variable breaks.
May be sent home if not needed; must be prepared to return the following day.
Less than 1 year of prior experience required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical exam, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in waste collection, manual labor, or outdoor work environments.
Interest in obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Work Environment
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Requires physical strength and endurance: lifting up to 70 lbs., frequent bending, pulling, twisting.
Long hours on your feet and riding in trucks with GPS/video monitoring.
Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and other elements typical of waste collection environments.
Important Notes
Steel-toed boots and full PPE are mandatory.
Show up early – the earlier you arrive, the more likely you’ll be assigned to a truck.
Reliable attendance is critical – no-call/no-show or late arrivals will not be tolerated.Company Description
