Value Stream Manager (VSM)
This position is located in
Newport, NH
The Value Steam Manager (VSM) will have full oversight and responsibility for the overall leadership and management of operations for the assigned value streams within the Newport facility. This candidate must possess a working knowledge of LEAN value stream manufacturing, lean process development, leadership and a strong background in CNC manufacturing with integrated assembly operations. This servant leader will supervise and mentor Group Leaders and Team Leaders in order to work toward our vision of highly specified standard work adherence, as well as problem solving. This leader will also serve as the Manufacturing Engineering mentor in order to improve processes by way of good fundamental engineering theory.
Summary:
The VSM will provide servant leadership for multiple product families with the primary goal of meeting or exceeding customer expectations, while eliminating waste in the overall supply chain in the relentless pursuit of pure value.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coaching and Mentoring (Servant Leadership):
Foster a sense of empowerment in our associates to positively impact their lives and our business.
Develop and implement standard work that enables stability, which ensures quality and establishes a solid foundation to identify normal from abnormal and expose opportunities for continuous improvement.
Apply critical, scientific method based thinking to production interrupters by gathering, organizing, and interpreting data to determine root cause and implement short-term countermeasures as well as long-term permanent corrective actions.
Plan, direct, and monitor all the production activities of multiple product families to maximize the use of the organization’s resources while meeting safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.
Analyze production metrics (Lean Operating Systems or LOS) to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Monitor and respond to staffing needs and ensure associates are properly trained.
Ensure our teams aggressively pursue a safe working environment.
Effectively give and receive feedback.
Work with all stakeholders to prioritize projects.
Communicate across the entire organization.
Use and mentor Humble Inquiry techniques with all associates.
Operational Internal and External Customers:
The candidate will work with Management, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety, Product Management, Project Management and Supply Chain to:

Develop and implement plans to achieve current and future business needs.
Develop and implement plans to support New Product Development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other STEM discipline and possess experience in both Manufacturing Engineering and Operational Leadership.
Proven ability to lead complicated systems, think fast and logically, withstand constant pressure and work in a fast pace environment.
Self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, creative and possesses excellent problem solving skills.
Proficiency with written and oral communication.
Ability to plan, prioritize and execute work
Strong time management skills; Must be able to handle multiple projects and important issues at one time.
Proven ability to maintain and manage a dynamically changing schedule and balance overall workloads.
Basic functional knowledge of firearms Safety and the function for various firearms configurations.
Ability to work with employees at all levels of the company, as needed to implement companywide improvements and initiatives.
