JOB TITLE: Marketing Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Midland Development Corporation Executive Director

About MDC:

The Midland Development Corporation (MDC), created in January 2002, offers incentives to qualified new and existing employers that create diversified primary jobs for the community. Midland voters made these incentives possible when they approved a quarter-cent increase in the local sales tax rate, with additional revenues earmarked to promote economic development and diversification. A seven-member board appointed by the Midland City Council governs the MDC.

Position Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator promotes the mission and initiatives of the MDC by communicating the MDC’s message to attract new businesses to Midland. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a comprehensive marketing plan, maintaining and updating MDC’s website and social media accounts, content creation, supporting public relations, and coordinating outreach activities. The ideal candidate is a dynamic communicator with strong design and writing skills, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines. They should have a passion for community impact and Midland’s growth and be comfortable working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and distribute marketing materials, including brochures, one-pagers, press releases, newsletters, and promotional content.

Write and edit content for a variety of channels, including MDC’s social media, websites, email campaigns, and print collateral.

Ensure brand consistency across all internal and external communications.

Create video content, presentations, and graphic design projects.

Compile content and design work for MDC’s annual report.

Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across all platforms

Maintain and update the organization’s website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and user engagement.

Support the development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns, including paid social and email marketing.

Monitor analytics and report on campaign performance and engagement metrics.

Read and track applicable news and rankings related to the MDC, Midland, region, local economy and target industries

Support the planning and promotion of public events, business roundtables, ribbon cuttings, and community outreach activities.

Coordinate event materials, signage, photography, and post-event communications.

Serve as photographer/videographer at events.

Maintain contact and stakeholder lists.

Coordinate with media outlets and partners to increase visibility for programs and successes.

Track media coverage and manage press clipping archives.

Assist in preparing media kits, talking points, and press releases for public announcements.

Assist in maintaining the organization’s marketing calendar and campaign timelines.

Coordinate vendor relationships for printing, branding, media, and promotional materials.

Assist in the coordination of tradeshows and conferences, including but not limited to show application and logistics, travel accommodations for attendees, booth logistics and shipping, booth design, and booth maintenance.

Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing

Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated emotional intelligence and interpersonal ability in a professional setting

Education:

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

Licenses:

Current driver’s license
