Job Title: Instructional Designer – Oracle NMS
Location: Preference given to candidates in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio
Remote: Yes, with occasional travel to Columbus, OH and Merrillville, IN
Period: Immediate start through 12/31/2025 (Strong likelihood of extension)
Hours/Week: 40 hours Rate: $55 – $60/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only (No visa sponsorship or subcontracting)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to support training development for a large-scale Oracle Network Management System (NMS) implementation. This role will focus on creating practical, field-ready training materials to support operational users, including electric utility crews and other field personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience in utilities or large ERP implementations and will be comfortable designing learning content that emphasizes hands-on practice, performance support, and microlearning.
Scope of Services
The Instructional Designer will work as part of a cross-functional training team to:
Develop and deliver job-specific learning content for field and operational personnel
Create PowerPoint-based training modules that are practice-heavy and supplemented by knowledge checks
Design job aids, performance support tools, and microlearning videos to support on-the-job execution
Ensure all content supports safe, accurate, and efficient adoption of Oracle NMS processes
Role, Responsibilities & Deliverables
Partner with subject matter experts to design and develop instructional materials tailored for utility field workers
Create clear, visually engaging slide decks and training presentations
Develop hands-on activities and real-world practice scenarios aligned with NMS workflows
Build and organize job aids, quick reference tools, and microlearning content for just-in-time learning
Incorporate knowledge checks and assessments to validate learner comprehension
Ensure training materials align with adult learning principles and operational requirements
Assist with content review sessions and make revisions based on SME or stakeholder feedback
Support rollout of training in both live and virtual environments, as needed
Required Experience
5+ years of instructional design experience, ideally in a utility or field-based operational environment
Experience supporting training for ERP implementations, ideally Oracle NMS or similar systems
Proven ability to create materials for operational, technical, or field-facing user groups
Skilled in developing PowerPoint-based learning modules, job aids, and microlearning
Experience designing knowledge checks, performance support tools, and competency-based evaluations
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with subject matter experts and field teams
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, or a related field
Certifications in Instructional Design, eLearning Development, or Performance Improvement are a plus
Familiarity with utility operations, Oracle platforms, or learning management systems (LMS) is preferred
