Are you passionate about construction and looking for an opportunity to lead, mentor, and make a significant impact? We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of construction projects. This is a permanent position, offering a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of high-profile construction projects. You will be at the heart of our operation, ensuring our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for all cost categories.
Evaluate project scope and client needs to develop and present recommended budgets for necessary pre-bid and pre-construction cost estimating and cost planning services.
Participate in the bid process, including coordinating with the project team to compile subcontractor bids and vendor quotes, reviewing bid documents, and analyzing project risks.
Manage vendor relationships and oversee the subcontractor bidding process.
Lead the junior estimating team, providing mentorship and guidance to develop their skills and knowledge.
Coordinate with project management teams to schedule and plan projects, ensuring all material and labor requirements are met.
Conduct risk evaluations to minimize potential project issues and maximize project profitability.
Create and present reports to upper management detailing project estimates and bid summaries.
Stay current with the latest materials, technology, and trends in the construction industry to ensure the most cost-effective solutions are incorporated into estimates.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically in steel construction.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience in managing the bid process, dealing with subcontractor bids, and vendor management.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
Exceptional skills in project scheduling, preparing cost estimates, and understanding material and labor requirements.
Excellent mentoring and leadership skills, with a proven track record in junior staff development.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Proficient in relevant software, including MS Office Suite, estimating software, and database applications.
Sound knowledge of local construction labor and subcontractor markets.
Ability to work under pressure, organize and prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
