Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to join a dynamic organization in Baltimore, Maryland. This role will oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and the effective management of resources. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will guide financial planning, budgeting, and reporting while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the accounting team, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and opportunities for growth and development.
• Actively participate in senior leadership discussions, collaborating with directors to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
• Develop and implement financial policies, internal controls, and systems to ensure the integrity and compliance of all financial activities.
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including grant-specific reporting requirements.
• Manage the organization’s general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
• Coordinate the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, presenting findings to the board and executive team.
• Supervise the preparation of payroll, ensuring accurate labor allocations and compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Maintain banking relationships, monitor cash flow, and oversee financing activities, including cash projections and line of credit renewals.
• Oversee all invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and resolution of outstanding items.
• Ensure compliance with federal cost principles, preparing for and leading audit processes as needed.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management, including leadership roles.
• Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, with a strong track record of accuracy and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software, along with familiarity in managing payroll and accounts reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of grant management.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement internal controls and financial policies.
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in variance analysis and financial planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
