We are a busy Gastroenterology office with 33 Providers. We are looking for a team-oriented individual to provide great customer service to our patients! This individual should show great attention to detail and a passion for healthcare.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in either the hospital or clinic setting.
JOB TITLE: Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
JOB SUMMARY: Provides either or both outpatient and inpatient support to the gastroenterology service in the hospital or in our clinic setting. Assists in the management and care of all patients in relation to gastroenterology disease processes. Works collaboratively with providers and nurses to provide exceptional patient care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works in collaboration with the physician to provide ongoing gastroenterology care to patients in the inpatient hospital setting and/or the outpatient clinical setting.
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
Orders/prescribes/administers the appropriate medications, injections, therapies, diet, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing/imaging studies as well as procedures consistent with clinical privileges.
Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles or prevention.
Performs patient counseling and comprehensive teaching, consenting, and preparation for further steps in care management plan.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
Ensures documentation is entered for accurate and complete billing for services provided.
Ensures key quality metrics are optimized.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Demonstrates good communication and interaction skills when dealing with supervisors, co-workers, patients, families, and other departments.
Follows appropriate infection control policies and procedures of facility and regulatory agencies.
Maintains knowledge of and adheres to established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Participates in organizational and departmental goals and performance improvement activities.
Participates in personal and professional growth by attending in-services/educational workshops and scheduled departmental meetings.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Organizes and prioritizes work to complete responsibilities according to plan within established time frames.
Keeps regular and punctual attendance.
Performs other related work, duties, and special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for an Advanced Practice Provider to provide patient care and treatment. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Ability to interpret and maintain accurate medical records and accurately record test results. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in administering a variety of treatment methods and medications. Skills and abilities in developing and maintaining department quality assurance and control standards. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instruction. Skill in operating a keyboard, photocopier, fax machine, and other technology typical of an office environment. Ability to communicate clearly. Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Required ability to work in a caring and kind manner under high stress with patients who are irritable or confused.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (APRN), or;
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program or Physician’s Assistant Program
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years’ professional experience preferred (APRN or PA-C).
Two (2) years’ experience in the specialty of GI preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSURE:
Possession of an active State RN license (APRN)
Possession of an active State APRN or PA-C license
