Job Description:

· A Distribution Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and managing distribution systems for electrical power, water, natural gas, or other utilities.

· They are responsible for ensuring that these systems are efficient, reliable, and comply with safety and regulatory standards.

· Distribution Engineers work in various industries, including energy, utilities, and telecommunications.

· When storms roll through, they are expected to help out with storm response. This could include nights, weekends, and holidays of responding to storm response.

Key Responsibilities:

· System Design:

o Design and plan distribution systems, which may include electrical power lines, water pipelines, natural gas distribution networks, or telecommunication cables.

· Network Optimization:

o Optimize the distribution network for efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

· Project Management:

o Manage distribution projects, from planning and design to implementation and maintenance, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

· Compliance and Regulation:

o Ensure that distribution systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and environmental requirements.

· Technical Analysis:

o Perform technical analysis, such as load flow analysis, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations to ensure the proper functioning of the distribution system.

· Upgrades and Maintenance:

o Identify opportunities for system upgrades or replacements and plan maintenance activities to prevent disruptions.

· Quality Assurance:

o Conduct quality assurance reviews of distribution system designs and implementation to guarantee high-quality standards.

· Documentation:

o Maintain accurate records, drawings, and documentation related to distribution systems.

· Safety:

o Promote and enforce safety protocols for both employees and the general public to minimize accidents and hazards.

· Collaboration:

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, field technicians, and project managers, to achieve project goals.

· Customer Support:

o Provide technical support and address customer inquiries related to distribution systems.

· Software:

o Working knowledge of creating construction prints using JETS, Socket (load calculations), OFS

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.

· 5 to 10 years of experience in distribution system design and management.

· Professional Engineer (PE) license is often preferred or required, depending on the industry and region.

· Proficiency in distribution system design software and tools.

· In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to distribution systems.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges.

· Project management experience, including project planning, budgeting, and execution.

· Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and clients.

· Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.

· Adaptability to changing technology and industry trends.

· A Distribution Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience is expected to have a strong foundation in distribution system design and project management.
