General Responsibility
Responsible for recommending, developing, configuring, and supporting the patching of the agency's server and desktop environments. Maintain server images with up-to-date patches and drivers, and provide third-party software patching. Deliver monthly and on-demand patching reports to the IT Director and Security, Server and Desktop Managers. Additionally, perform systems engineering functions, including system design, implementation, and optimization, while serving as a technical lead by offering high-level support and troubleshooting expertise.
Specific Duties
Oversee the installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software systems. Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability. Provide high-level support for system issues, diagnose problems, and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
Execute the SLED server and desktop vulnerability management program. Facilitate monthly, on demand and third party patching through Microsoft SCCM and Intune.
Design and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or data loss. Maintain the backup environment to ensure data integrity and availability.
Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, processes, and procedures for reference and compliance. Provide training and support to end-users and other IT staff on system operations and best practices.
Other duties as required or assigned by the Manager.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Should have a solid understanding of network infrastructure, server environments (Windows/Linux), cloud platforms, patching, and enterprise services like Active Directory and DNS.
Experience with SCCM, Intune, automation (e.g., PowerShell), and security best practices is key.
Must be able to manage projects, communicate effectively, and solve complex technical issues.
May be required to travel and this may include overnight travel.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must pass a national fingerprint background check and pass a polygraph test.
This position supports 24/7 infrastructure and will be on rotating call schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, VMware) are preferred, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and ensure system performance and security.
