About this Position
The Application Architect is responsible for translating business requirements into technical design specifications for applications. They work directly with development teams to implement those designs and deliver the solutions into production. They are responsible for communicating department standards and best-practices and ensuring they are reflected in the applications.
Open to candidates that live anywhere in the United States but must work Eastern time zone work hours. If candidate is in Metro Atlanta area, they will work a flexible hybrid schedule at our Duluth office.
Salary: $160K
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Technical Leadership
Collaborate directly with business owners to understand functional requirements.
Translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
Compose design artifacts in the form of diagrams and online documentation.
Enlist Designs Patterns as solutions to problems.
Educate development team on designs and how to implement them.
Develop Prototypes
Master multiple modern development languages.
Develop Prototypes and Proof of Concept applications to illustrate solutions.
Mentoring Developers
Mentor and train developers on how to apply Design Patterns.
Demonstrate how to take advantage of modern development languages.
Assist in development of complex functional requirements.
Performs code-reviews and feedback for developers.
Champion Department Standards
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture Team to understand current guidelines and standards.
Ensure application architecture adheres to department standards.
Socializes standards with development teams.
Provide feedback to the Architecture team regarding application of standards.
Compliance
Protects the company’s authority to do business by complying with legal and ethical standards, policies, and procedures.
Follows all applicable Information Technology Management Policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience (4–5 years).
10+ years of hands-on software development experience building internet-facing, large-scale, performant, high-availability enterprise/web/mobile applications.
7+ years of hands-on experience as a Full Stack Developer, including lead developer and Application Architecture responsibilities.
3+ years of technical leadership, delivering technical solutions across multiple technology stacks while mentoring teams of 5 or more developers.
Proficient in:
Frontend frameworks like Vue.js, Angular
RESTful API development using Node.js, Python
Relational databases (preferably DB2), database design, SQL, MongoDB
Containerization and orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and MQ
Integrated authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g JWT, OAuth) into APIs to ensure secure access
Created and maintained API Documentation using tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI
Strong grasp of Design Patterns, concurrent application design, and application security.
Skilled in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing comprehensive unit tests.
Demonstrated ability to produce technical design artifacts and effectively communicate solutions to developers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience developing prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate architecture and accelerate delivery.
Familiarity with IT compliance and security best practices.
3+ years of experience in AWS is a plus, with a proven track record developing cloud-native applications using AWS services.
