Consultant, Software Engineer (Salesforce)

This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week and current remote associates will also be considered.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in technologies such as Kafka (Event Streaming), Salesforce APEX, API/APIGEE, and ETL. There is an immediate need for someone with strong expertise in Salesforce APEX Development. Candidates who are willing to learn the other integration technologies will also be considered.

This role will be within Technology Nationwide Financial (NF) Integrated Digital Services (IDS).

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the World’s #1 CRM Salesforce. We are looking for a Consultant, Software Engineer to work on the Salesforce application as well as other emerging technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

Contribute to the design and development of quality IT solutions

Coach less experienced developers through best practices, tools, and consistent processes

Identify and lead DevOps journey focused on automation and increasing speed and while maintaining quality

Contributes to large scale salesforce implementations

Supports external deployment process

Troubleshoots and provides solutions to software development problems

Demonstrate the ability to foster business relationships and possess good communication skills

Other Responsibilities:

Drive and build line performance to deliver high-quality solutions by eliminating waste and fostering an environment of continuous improvement

Continuously improves software delivery capabilities and build it run it adoption by collaborating and coaching within line

Willing to polyskill and learn other technologies

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years Java development or Salesforce Development (strongly preferred) experience with Apex and building Lighting Components

3+ years experience with SOAP and REST based services

Highly motivated individual willing to learn and participate in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem solving ability

Experience in all Integration Patterns: API/APIGEE, ETL (Informatica/Talend), Event Streaming (Kafka), and Salesforce APEX

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.

Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.

Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.

Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
