Job Description
AI Engineer – AI Agent Deployment (Entry to Mid-Level)
Location: Huntington Beach, CA
Department: Engineering – AI & Automation
Job Type: Full-Time
About The Mortgage Office
At The Mortgage Office, we build industry-leading software for private lenders and loan servicers. Our platform helps manage billions in loan volume, and we’re just getting started. We are enhancing our software with AI-driven automation and intelligent agents—and we’re looking for passionate engineers to help us shape the future of mortgage technology.
The Opportunity
We are hiring an AI Engineer with a solid foundation in software or machine learning engineering and a hunger to grow. If you’ve dabbled with large language models (LLMs), AI agents, or natural language processing—and want to put those skills to use in real-world applications—this is your chance.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and product leads to design and deploy AI agents that automate manual tasks, improve user experience, and make mortgage servicing smarter. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the entire AI development lifecycle—from experimentation to production deployment.
What You'll Do
Collaborate on the design and development of AI agents to automate workflows and enhance user productivity within our software platform.
Build and deploy scalable services integrating LLMs, retrieval-based models, and other AI components.
Contribute to prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and evaluation processes.
Work with product, engineering, and QA teams to ensure AI features are stable, performant, and user-friendly.
Help build the underlying infrastructure and monitoring for AI agents in production.
Constantly learn and apply the latest in AI/ML and software practices to solve real business problems.
Design and build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems
using internal product data and external customer-provided sources
(cloud storage, CRMs, document portals).
Develop and maintain embedding pipelines, vector databases, and
dynamic context construction techniques.
Integrate structured data from MS SQL Server and other customer-
connected systems (API, SFTP, cloud storage).
Build feedback mechanisms, monitoring systems, and human-in-the-
loop workflows for safe, continuous AI improvement.
What We're Looking For
1+ year of experience in software development or applied machine learning (internships count!).
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with REST APIs or microservices.
Some exposure to ML libraries or frameworks (e.g., Hugging Face, LangChain, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Curious about LLMs, AI agents, RAG pipelines, or vector databases.
Strong desire to grow technically and professionally; open to feedback and mentoring.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Bonus Points (Not Required)
Experience building or experimenting with LLMs or conversational agents.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Knowledge of financial services, lending, or SaaS platforms.
Why You’ll Love It Here
High-impact role in a growing AI initiative.
A chance to build real products—not just research prototypes.
Collaborative, growth-minded culture with a bias for action.
Competitive salary, health benefits, and flexible work options.
