Title: Sr. Global Trade Controls Lead IV
Location: San Jose, CA Remote (Must work PST time zone; local candidates preferred who can go onsite occasionally)
Duration: 5 Months (Potential to extend or convert to full-time based on performance and budget)
Pay Rate Range: $85/HR - $95/HR

Standard working hours with flexibility for early morning or late evening work.

Position Summary:
The Sr. Global Trade Controls Lead IV is responsible for managing and enhancing global trade compliance operations, ensuring adherence to international import/export regulations, driving process improvements, and fostering relationships across stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee customs and trade operations for U.S. and international locations.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in global import/export and logistics.
Develop and implement strategies to support compliant and efficient international trade.
Advise internal stakeholders on trade compliance obligations and best practices.
Serve as the liaison with freight forwarders, customs brokers, U.S. government officials, and internal/external customers.
Execute operational tasks and solve real-time trade issues.
Design and implement a global customs brokerage and logistics partner program.
Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ongoing improvements.
Implement compliance controls for CBP’s trade remedy programs.
Evaluate and update SOPs based on regulatory changes.
Partner with legal teams to ensure proper execution of regulatory procedures.
Act as the regional subject matter expert on global trade compliance.
Enhance efficiency using data analytics and automation tools.
Build training materials, communication plans, and standard procedures for stakeholders.
Lead duty saving programs such as FTAs, FTZ setup, duty drawbacks, etc.
Collaborate with internal and external teams to enforce compliance across regions.
Maintain and analyze content/metrics for trade compliance insights.
Monitor global trade regulation changes and assess business impact.
Provide governance guidance and manage trade compliance status reports.
Assist in product classification (HTS, Schedule B, ECCN).
Drive process improvement and automation initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in trade compliance roles (industry, professional services, Fortune 500, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of global customs, incoterms, valuation, classification, country of origin, FTA, licensing, and sanctions.
Expertise with agencies such as CBP, BIS, OFAC, DDTC, and similar global counterparts.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to lead and manage teams.
Successful track record of executing projects end-to-end.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required.
U.S. Customs Broker License required.
Experience with Global Trade Management systems is a plus.
Foreign language skills are a bonus.
Ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
