Full-Time Laborer (Sanitation)

DESCRIPTION

Overview

The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a hardworking and dependable Sanitation Worker to help maintain a clean and safe community. This position involves collecting and transporting solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste, operating various sanitation vehicles, and ensuring proper disposal at designated locations.

Key Responsibilities

Collect waste and recyclables on assigned routes and return containers to their proper locations.

Operate sanitation vehicles and equipment, including power lifts and compressors.

Ensure safety by observing surroundings and regulating traffic when necessary.

Maintain communication via radio or phone to report updates or route changes.

Adhere to job safety requirements and sanitation standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to perform heavy manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds frequently, 100 pounds occasionally.

Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain within six months through the City's training program).

Must be a non-smoker and non-tobacco user during employment.

Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Work Environment

Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise.

Occasional exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, and electrical risks.
