Job Description
Purpose:
Drive Continuous Improvement in the plant to improve manufacturing processes for quality improvement, cost-reduction, and efficiency. Monitor and track improvements made through Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Implement waste reduction by working with all the employees to improve quality, efficiency, yields, and ergonomics. Oversee training for operators and production teams to maintain the Quality Management System.
Dimensions of Position:
a) Assist Technical Manager on quality and processing issues.
b) Attend daily reject meetings and lead root cause analysis of non-conforming product and processes.
c) Assist in implementing Continuous Improvement and Statistical Process Control methodologies such as 8D, Control Charts, Control Plans and Failure Modes and Effect Analysis.
d) Initiate, drive, and support programs for elimination of waste and variation in manufacturing methods.
e) Conduct process audits against procedures and develop Standard Work Instructions.
f) Assist in maintaining the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
g) Drive culture change to instill focus on fact-based management practices using statistical process control and other problem-solving methodologies.
h) Support project teams in process quality activities by educating, coaching, and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools, and application. Monitor follow-up activity to insure completion of improvements.
i) Propose, plan, and manage continuous improvement events.
j) Reports directly to the Technical Manager and dotted line to Plant Manager

Qualifications and Experience:
a) 3-5 years related experience in ceramic refractory industry.
b) Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering./Material Science and Engineering or related field from accredited university or college
c) Knowledge of 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement tools.
d) Good knowledge of Statistical Process Control principles.
Physical Requirements:
g) Work performed in an office and fast paced manufacturing plant setting
h) Exposure to manufacturing environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes, varied temperatures
i) Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.Company Description
