We are currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator at our mining operation.
Located within 2-hour drive of The Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, the Adirondack Mountains and world class skiing at Lake Placid. Explore Canada with Montreal and Ottawa only 2-3 hours away.
Responsibilities:
Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations
Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed
Provide safety training & education
Conduct risk assessments
Inspect work environments underground and on the surface
Investigate accidents
Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits
Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk
Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations
Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests
Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting
Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records
Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture.
Other reasonable duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay organized
Ability to use computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reports
Industry experience preferred
MSHA Trainer Certification preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skill in written and verbal communication (in English)
Legally authorized to work in the US.
