Position Summary
The Director of Finance and Business Strategy serves as a strategic financial leader, responsible for overseeing the broader financial health and long-term sustainability of the organization. The individual in this role is responsible for analyzing current activity, budgeting and forecasting future activity, and increasing financial intelligence across the organization to achieve desired financial results. This role will support all business leaders, with a focus on equipping them with financial insights, KPIs, and strategic tools to operate at peak performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Oversight
Drive NAVC’s financial vision, providing actionable insights to boost organizational success.
Lead monthly, annual, and multi-year financial budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
Partner with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives and drive product goals.
Provide supervision and coaching to the Director of Business Intelligence and Financial Analyst.
Implement systematic analytic methodology to drive decision-making and operational enhancements.
Business Evaluation & Analysis
Develop KPI’s and conduct trend analysis to inform decision-making across departments.
Assess and manage financial risks and insurance needs. Prepare quarterly reports and mitigation strategies to address.
Conduct research, provide predictive analysis and scenario planning, and recommend advancements to enhance company competitiveness.
Recommend improvements to systems, processes, and policies that promote operational excellence.
Financial Operations and Reporting
Compile and distribute forecasting reports related to revenue, expenses, products sold, etc. at the organization’s desired cadence.
Translate complex financial and business concepts into accessible, actionable insights.
Provide guidance to the program managers, empowering them to interpret financial data, KPIs, and metrics to drive better decision-making and accountability.
Foster a culture of financial literacy, operational excellence, and innovation throughout the organization.
Innovation and Growth
Identify, champion, and execute opportunities to streamline operations, improve resource allocation, and enhance financial sustainability.
Integrate innovation into financial planning, ensuring the organization remains agile, scalable, and future-ready.
Analyze the financial viability of new initiatives, business models, and strategic partnerships.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree and/or certifications in Finance, Business Management, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
A minimum 7-10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in a high-performing nonprofit or entrepreneurial environment.
Demonstrated success in driving predictive financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
Demonstrated leadership qualities and integrity. A big-picture thinker with excellent interpersonal abilities.
Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills; communicates in a manner that business leaders understand.
Proficient in advanced financial systems, dashboards, and ERP platforms.
Well informed of current business, technology, and market environments.
