An industry leader is looking for a technical director reporting to the VP/GM. The technical director will manage the daily activities of all Process Engineers, Metallurgists and the Quality organization staff.
Responsibilities:
• Refine policies and procedures that standardize and align operations.
• Administer the Quality Management System
• Use Six Sigma/Lean methods to improve product quality throughout facility.
• Conduct analysis to identify and implement continuous improvement activities.
• Manage and submit all non-conforming products to customers when required.
• Conduct metallurgical investigations relating to process control and product development.
• Provide material recommendations for new product development and to meet customer and/or industry requirements.
• Organize, perform and/or supervise failure analysis.
• Write accurate and persuasive technical reports detailing causes and corrective actions associated with analysis of data and issues.
• Write dispositions of material on non-conformance issues.
• Represent the organization to customers, suppliers and certifying agencies.
• Direct material/product analysis including preparation of samples and analysis of data.
• Analyze production and material limitations as well as the standardizations of manufacturing specifications when required.
• Sample systems, procedures, and statistical techniques; design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
• Provide technical expertise for issues associated with engineering, procurement, and use of raw materials.
• Recognize and implement effective problem resolution.
• Ensure all processes in area compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead the internal audit process and internal auditors and act as point of contact for 2nd and 3rd party QMS audits.
• Design and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes and develop and facilitate quality assurance related training for production and management personnel.
• Maintain product traceability information.
• Perform daily quality metrics and analysis in key areas of production.
• Contribute to all product development and production improvement projects.
• Maintain the gage calibration system.
• Assist Purchasing with Supplier Selections and the Evaluation process and ensure compliance with customer specified purchase order requirements
Requirements:
• B.S. or higher in Metallurgy from an accredited college or university. Required.
• 5 years of experience as a Metallurgist/Materials Engineer. Required.
• 5 years of experience with Forging or other metal forming experience with Nickel, Titanium and/or Steel materials. Required.
• 2 years of experience in ISO 9001/AS9100, and NADCAP. Required.
• 2 years of experience with continuous improvement program implementation. Required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong computer skills. Required
• Knowledge of physical and chemical metallurgy test procedures. Preferred.
• Familiar with operation and maintenance of lab testing equipment. Preferred
• Leadership experience with managing or leading teams. Preferred.
• Experience in high volume metal machining and Forging Industry knowledge. Preferred
• Some travel, particularly in support of customers, will be required
